Phone booth time machines! Just like Bill & Ted!*

New York has found a nifty new use for its 5,000 public pay phones. It’s converted them to virtual time machines! Pick up the receiver and dial 1-[855]-DIAL-1993 to hear a New Yorker talking about what was the dealio around your particular pay phone in 1993.

The city-wide “experiment in collective memory” was put together by the New Museum. (There was an accompanying exhibition in the gallery space too).

To purchase a copy of Materiality: TIME, please visit the pinknantucket press shop. Or perhaps we’ll see you at the official launch! (20th September, 5.30-7.00pm at the Sticky Institute).
